Meet Dexter Jones
I started playing saxophone in middle school, continued into high school, and eventually college. While in college, I had the opportunity to perform at several house parties and country club events. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Saxophone Performance, but my true style has always been smooth jazz, R&B, and Soul.
After college I reached out to the United States Navy and passed the audition to join the Navy music program (Navy Band) as a saxophonist. This ended up being a 20-year career of performing multiple styles of music for high-profile foreign military dignitaries, heads of state, two U.S. presidents, and thousands of public performances and formal ceremonies all over the world.
After retirement in 2017 from the Navy Band, I settled in Kingsland, Georgia. I wanted to continue performing, so I joined several local "party" bands. Then in 2020, COVID-19 happened. When places began to slowly open up, many were looking for solo musicians. Luckily, I had already started going that direction by getting the proper sound equipment and working on popular songs. My gig count exploded as a solo saxophonist!
From playing at many bars and restaurants, I was able to book through word of mouth multiple private events, weddings, and corporate events with music volumes that work for a large stage, quaint living room, or anything in between.

I offer a fun and extensive repertoire of music which includes "Old School" R&B/Soul, love ballads, modern pop, rock, country, and more. I've performed at some of the most luxurious venues around the North Florida/Southeast Georgia region, including The Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island, The Westin on Jekyll Island, The King and Prince on St. Simons Island, and The Cloister on Sea Island. Also, I am willing to travel to a city near you!
